"BROOKLYN"
Nia Black, 23, was an Aveda alumnus, business owner, and valued member of the Northeast Minneapolis Arts Association (NEMAA). Her business, Brooklyn Black LLC, served as an outlet for beauty industry professionals. Nia was the founder and owner of Project Brooklyn where she highlighted the talent of local Twin Cities artists and had the vision to take it Nationwide.
Black, who was a Make-Up Artist (MUA), had clients that flew into the Twin Cities on a monthly basis for MUA services as well as celebrities like Star Jones and Super Bowl performers. She was a full-time business major student and had been a licensed cosmetologist since February of 2018. She taught courses at North Hennepin Community College and was studying business marketing.

PROJECT BROOKLYN
In Minnesota, Twin Cities area, Project Brooklyn's Beauty Showroom is a platform Nia Black created and hosted annually for local beauty industry professionals, entrepreneurs, and vendors to come together under one roof where they perform live tutorials, shared resources, and capitalize on endless networking opportunities.









THE LEGACY OF PROJECT BROOKLYN WILL CONTINUE WITH THE SUPPORT OF MACGV AND THE AVEDA ARTS & SCIENCES INSTITUTE MINNEAPOLIS.
